โKeri was one of my most influential coaches Iโve ever worked with. She was always there to help me with the technical elements, short game and putting. As well, her mental coaching has not only affected me on the golf course, but off as well. She prioritizes relationship building, confidence and empowerment in everything she does as a coach. There were many tough moments in my career that I got through because of Coach Keri and I still channel her advice in my playing nowโ

โKeri has a gift of understanding that in order to create good golfers you have to see the athlete as a whole and that no two golfers are the same. You never feel like she is just checking boxes during lessons to manufacture a good golf swing. She has an unparalleled intuition to know what her players need to hear in all situations. Whether itโs the perfect swing tip or a distraction to clear your head in a tournament, Keri can always find the right words to bring out a players best. I can honestly say I would not have had the success I did as a player at UBC without her as my coachโ

โI am incredibly thankful for the opportunity I had to learn from Keri during my time at the UBC Womenโs Golf Team. Keri taught me how to understand the intricate mechanisms of the golf swing, short game, and course management, equipping me with invaluable skills to succeed on the golf course. Keri has also helped me overcome my insecurities and grow into a confident player, something I had always struggled with before meeting her. I would not have been able to become the player I am today without Keriโs influence - I can confidently say she will always be the best coach I have ever had. โ

โHaving diversity in role models is extremely important because it challenges outdated stereotypes about women in leadershipโ
Additionally, if women are not visible in these positions it can lead to less favourable outcomes for girls and women. Their abilities and self-perceptions can be devalued. Having female coaches challenges stereotypes about gender and leadership and they will offer diverse perspectives, insight and advice to their athletes. This can open up avenues for girls to see themselves in roles such as a tournament player or even a coach.
Our Girls Academy is designed to give families the option of a female-led program in addition to collaborating with diverse and knowledgeable experts in fitness and biomechanics.
